Lydia Oldham & The Speed Project
Reebok Running Ambassador Lydia Oldham takes on The Speed Project
▼
The Speed Project is an infamous and unsanctioned annual race from LA to Las Vegas, covering around 500 km and some gruelling desert terrain. Its rep as an extreme endurance challenge attracts international ultrarunners competing in relay teams or even solo.
Our unstoppable Running Ambassador, Lydia Oldham, fearlessly tackled the challenge as a solo runner, repping the UK among just twenty-three other competitors. Equipped with the new Reebok FloatZig 1 running sneakers and supported by her dedicated RV crew and pacers, Lydia set off on her adventure.
Racing through the streets of LA and venturing onto the vast desert roads that stretch across California and into Nevada, Lydia pounded out relentless km through dawn, dusk and beyond, including an intense overnight and unsupported off-road run through the Mojave Desert.
Lydia dashed across the finish line late at night, illuminated by the bright lights of Vegas and cheered on by her loyal support crew, clocking an incredible 112:50:00 finish time. Her unwavering dedication and grit on this wild and unique adventure has been truly inspirational. We can’t wait to see what Lydia does next, after some well-deserved rest!
